Jesus slept.
It sounds a bit like “Jesus wept,” though there’s no “Jesus slept” Bible verse.
But Jesus, human that He was, must have slept. I hadn’t really thought about it.
The one reference to Jesus sleeping that I could think of was during the storm. As far as I can tell, that’s the only place in the Gospels where we find Him in the act of sleeping.
Isn’t that interesting? I’ve heard sermons (and loved them) on how we can sleep, too, because Jesus is in the boat.
Today, I am struck by this being the only reference to Him sleeping. It’s in the middle of one of the more dangerous hours of His life.
That is when He was sleeping. God had Him, and He knew it.
Jesus slept.

I think the bible doesn’t say Jesus smiled either. And yet I think he probably spent most of his life with a joyful demeanor. Interesting…

We need less portraits of Jesus being all serious and more portraits of him smiling. 😀
